How quickly sixteen years has gone by. Kiepersol's vines and winery just turned 16 and finally we can say 'sweet sixteen'. And when I go in the library and I taste some of the first wines. I know this was a long road of improvement. As the vines matured so did the winemakers and our industry. I want to say thank you to everybody that walked this road with us. Especially the other Texas wineries that are also improving and diligently promoting what we as Texans can do. I know all of us feel sometimes we are on this wine island alone fighting the imports and the mass merchandisers. But the love for what we do and endurance of all has brought us to a point where I hear it every weekend...how proud people are of what we as an industry have done over the years.
Our local following is getting stronger. Bloggers and writers and competitions are much more positive. And what I always knew is now reality...our destiny is our Texas destination. There is a Texas wine and a winery for all. I got to know and taste a lot of Texas wines in the KE Cellars years and we promoted them as hard as our own. Thanks to the efforts and pride of all the Texas winemakers, we have become an internationally known as a true wine producing state.
The season was good and mild and up until now the weather was just a blend of fall, fog and phenomenal days. We can just wish that it lasts. Again, thank you to everyone in our industry, our phenomenal fans and our proud Texas consumers. This is to you with wishes for a blessed Christmas season and prosperity in the new year. And if the season makes you gain weight, I hope it is all in faith.
