A Tale of Three Sangiovese Wines
Kiepersol has grown Sangiovese grapes on the wine farm since 1998. This block of grapes is growing directly in front of the Club House and the wine production facility. They are the first reds to bud out in spring and have always held a special place in our heart and our history.
Our love of experimentation over the years has led us to three very different expressions of this one beautiful grape. The classic Kiepersol flagship Sangiovese is currently in the 2019 vintage and is a comfortable wine with a jammy, dark chocolate, wild cherry, and plum flavor profile.
Using Jimmy’s Bourbon barrels after they’ve aged their bourbon elixir is the perfect pairing of the distillery and the winery. The Texas Bourbon Barrel Sangiovese brings a butterscotch, strawberry, and red cherry palate with a strong baking spice flair from the oak. Divine!
Texique is our purest expression of what the farm gives us…our terroir. With no filtering, this wine really called to us while in barrels to be bottled under the Texique label which honors the legacy of our founder, Pierre de Wet who was certainly a “unique Texan”.
